Somatic is a word that describes the corporeal body. We are all whole human beings - our emotions and nervous system don't just live in our heads. Often our body 'knows' more than we consciously aware of. I can integrate simple movement and breathwork into our work together to help you tap into your innate body wisdom and become more attuned.
Many people find talking about and describing emotions difficult. We cannot easily find the right words. Music lyrics or instrumentals, poetry or other creative processes bypass the logical brain and connect directly with our feelings. I can incorporate these elements into our work together, either through using creativity in the sessions, or via what you feel drawn to bringing with you, to help you to access closed off parts of yourself.
Our relationship with the natural world can be very healing. Spending time outside brings us into contact with our deepest animal self, and can help us to make sense of things that are otherwise unclear. This may be an important part of your spiritual self, or of your day to day life that you would like to bring into how we work together. I welcome this.
A pluralistic way of working is an integrative therapeutic perspective that puts you the at front and centre. Although I may incorporate elements of several approaches, I will orient the way I work with you around your own particular needs and preferences. I always work collaboratively and I will regularly check in with you to ensure this is happening.
I am committed to regularly engaging in continuing professional education to ensure my knowledge and skills are up to date and relevant.
